TEMS Pocket pioneered the
concept of a handheld test
probe contained in a regular
mobile phone, a configura-
tion that enables operators to
effectively measure coverage
in areas where normal drive
testing is not possible.
TEMS Pocket accompanies users
wherever they may go within the net-
work – from trains to office buildings to
bike trails – performing measurements
without affecting the use of the phone.
The TEMS Pocket Remote package
extends the concept by capturing mea-
surements for processing by TEMS
™
Automatic while performing as a con-
ventional phone for non-technical users.
Now TEMS Pocket Remote is available
in the sophisticated new Sony-Ericsson
W760i and C702 phones, combining
the tool’s value as a test probe with in-
demand handset features.
The W760i is a stylish Walkman®–
enabled phone that supports HSDPA/
WCDMA 850/1900/2100 and Quad-
band EDGE/GPRS/GSM. The rugged
C702 carries a 3.2-megapixel Cyber-
shot
™
camera and is classed IP-54 to
signify its resistance to dust and splash-
es. It supports HSDPA/WCDMA 2100
and Quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM.
Both devices’ integrated GPS
capabilities enhance their value as
testing tools, making it possible to
obtain position information from each
unit without the need for the user to
carry any extra equipment.
With the newly released TEMS
Automatic 7.1.1, it is possible to
schedule measurements for voice,
FTP, and HTTP data sessions. Idle
sessions can be captured as well and
all measurements can be transferred
over the air to the backend system with
no user action.
The user’s wishes always take priority
over testing activities, assuring that it
is always convenient to carry TEMS
Pocket Remote. In order to protect
user privacy, the remote control func-
tion can be turned off locally. TEMS
Automatic can continue to monitor the
reporting interval from TEMS Pocket
Remote and give a warning to the
operator if the device has not been in
contact with the system for a given
length of time.
From the TEMS Automatic Operator’s
Console, it is possible to remotely control
and configure TEMS Pocket Remote to
capture measurements as ordered. In
addition, the status of devices within
the system can be monitored. Configura-
tion of the devices is done via a conve-
nient and easily handled user interface.
Because of their desirable mix of fea-
tures, the W760i and the C702 have
become market leaders among mobile
customers worldwide. That popularity,
along with their integrated GPS capa-
bilities, promises to make both phones
highly productive vehicles for TEMS
Pocket Remote.

Pocket is the most advanced
and powerful handheld air-interface
diagnostic tool for verification,
maintenance, and troubleshooting as
well as for basic cell planning tasks.
Covering GSM/GPRS/EDGE and
WCDMA/HSDPA, it is available in four
packages: TEMS Pocket Remote,
Classic, Professional, and Premium.
TEMS Pocket Remote acts as a
remotely controlled probe that
captures data for processing by
TEMS
™
Automatic while serving
as a conventional phone. No user
intervention is required for the tool to
perform testing tasks.
TEMS Automatic is the autonomous
network monitoring system that
measures quality as perceived by
subscribers while providing information
for reporting, troubleshooting, and
analysis. The tool collects round-the-
clock data without round-the-clock
personnel and automatically catches
errors without explicitly searching for
them. Test probes collect statistically
reliable data throughout the network
and provide end-to-end voice and data
service evaluation.
TEMS Pocket Classic and TEMS
Pocket Professional empower field and
RF engineers to perform manual real-
time testing. TEMS Pocket Premium
can serve both as a remote probe for
TEMS Automatic and as a real-time
testing device.
